ABOUT US
DREAM is a nonprofit program that utilizes the art of ballroom dancing to teach kids to Discover, Respect, Express, Achieve, and Motivation.
DREAM is a 30 week long program that goes into local schools and teaches children a new skill. During these 30 weeks kids learn various styles of ballroom dancing including Waltz, Hustle, Merengue, Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, and many more. DREAM gives these children the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning in a mid year showcase held at their schools as well as a final showcase. DREAM's final showcase brings all the kids in this program from different schools together to show what they have learned over the past 30 weeks to their friends, family, and peers. DREAM's final showcase gives the kids a sense of accomplishment where they are awarded a medal at the end of the showcase for their great achievement.
Currently in two Los Angeles Unified schools, DREAM currently has 370 kids participating in our program. Our plan is to bring this program into two new schools every year in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Our mission is to implement ballroom dancing into school's well rounded education. We see a big gap in kids necessary exercise and physical education provided by schools. DREAM's program is narrowing that gap by giving kids an opportunity to develop a healthy, well balanced, fun view of physical activity. The unique combination of sport, art, as well as social interaction that takes place during ballroom dancing makes this styles of discipline the best way to achieve that.
